In applications where a host is present with the BlueCoreTM device various means can be used to reduce the overall power consumption of the system. One method for BlueCore3-ROM and later devices in systems where the host wakes regularly is to use a feature known as Casual Scan, where the presence of a system clock can wake BlueCore from deep sleep in order to perform non time-critical tasks such as page and inquiry scanning in synchronisation with the host.
